A Little About Me

I was born in the north of Italy in a small region called “Brianza”. The area is very famous for furniture designers & manufacturers. It is also an area filled with thrifty people. I am a lion ascending lion & I recognize this character in me. I have a big ego, simply because I am always right.

I was born into a working-class family & I am the only son. My late father & my mother had little education. They studied only till they are about 10 years old. My father worked as a workman in Pirelli tire factory & my mother worked as a seamstress in Milan when they were younger.

They supported me till the completion of my education in the University of Economics in Milan, to which I am very grateful. I became independent at a very young age, much earlier than most average Italians in the early 1980s-90s. At a young age of 13, I was already recognized by many working adults, relatives & friends as being very responsible.

No Short Cut

I work very hard throughout my life journey & career. I am not a person who is able to use short cut to achieve my goals. I work hard & put in my full dedication every step of the way to achieve the success I now enjoy in my career. I have now what most people will call a good social position. Without sounding complacent, we always have this saying as a joke, that I can now enter any restaurant all over the world without looking at the price menu first. A huge achievement from where I started & I take comfort in that.

All Good Things May End

Just as the sun rises & sets every day, many things in our lives come & go too. I was blessed that most things in my life are smooth sailing. My decisions & important choices with regards to my work usually resulted in good outcomes. I have been in the oil & gas sector for more than 2 decades. I have grown from an entry level executive to the key management of my firm today. It has served my goals well. But I am also pragmatic in that all good things are bound to come to an end. The Oil & Gas industry is shrinking & moving in a declining position. In a climate-change environment, it will be sensible to look into what’s next for me & my family.

Pursuing My Passion

Perhaps it is time to pursue my other passion. One – own a house by the hills, two – have a vineyard to produce my own wine, three – have more time for myself. At this moment, I may be the captain of the vessel, the highest in command & directing where the vessel is moving, powerful & strong. However, in the current business climate, water is entering the vessel & so it may soon start to sink. I believe that eventually, I will need to switch to another vessel. Thus it is my wish to produce my own wine & grow it into a side hustle that will become the start of our family business for my 2 sons to continue growing.

Change Instills Fear

With change comes uncertainty. With uncertainty, it creates fear. However, the biggest fear is not making the change. It is making the change with your family in tow. It is just like swimming. If I swim on my own into new ocean, not an issue. If I swim with my family, I will feel heavier & not as flexible, nimble to counter the waves. Having said that, change is inevitable. People must change to develop new skills, to grow & bring more value to oneself & the environment around us. Of course, if you have a family, more careful planning & thoughts need to be in place.

My Word Of Encouragement

Try new things. Make a change. Even for myself, I feel I am too young to just do one thing right & successful. I would want to do more things, stretch myself a bit more & enjoy the process before my departure on earth.
